Beautiful things in February :)

Reflection

When we look at something, we usually just see the obvious.  There are hidden meanings in things, there are unseen things in the background. Things that are there, have always been there, it just takes a shift in perspective to see some of it. Life is like that, and people have commented on it for years - like the make a silk purse out of sow's ear.  Each day we have is a gift.  Don't waste it, enjoy them all.  I find joy in the smallest of things, the way the ice crystals build and disappear after an unexpected snow.  The promise of a beautiful sunrise that becomes dawn.  A new day.  Another chance. A lifetime of "do overs" for each one of us.  This photo is of......one of my bird baths.  Taken from above, it sits under the lilac trees, which are reflected along with the sky.  An oddly beautiful photo.

Today is book release day for one of my favorite people - yes, of course it is Susan Wiggs :)  Run out and buy a copy for yourself of "The Summer Hideaway".  Buy two.  Give one to a friend or the local library !

Enjoy your day !

I am grateful for my friends

For friends near and far - met by chance, met on the internet (yea!  Internet friends !!!!)  I am thankful for the love and support, the kind shoulders, the ears I bent of people who were not in my true "inner circle".  I have an acquaintance, who had such a turbulent year, that he says "his inner circle became his outer circle, and his outer circle became his inner circle". He is so right about that........he tells me that should be a line in a book :)  Maybe one day it will be.   Pam Janesville, CA

I am grateful we have heat

Thank heavens for the woodstove......and for now we still have water.  It has been WAY below zero the past 12 hours. Our house is old, it was built in 1905.  Withstood a lot of nasty weather, which we have only participated in for the past seven and a half years.  About time to put on more clothing and get outside to check the animals.  They will be irritated that I am bothering them, especially the chickens. Oh well.  I am grateful that the sun is out, and it may warm up to 25 degrees - whoo hoo !

a way to say thanks

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL

Please go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com    Pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

... yes, i AM thankful ...

Today, was one of those introspective mornings.  You know, your mind wanders through the memory tracks, it stops a few places, examines the whys, wherefores, the ups and the downs.  Thursday, Thanksgiving for my friends to the south... which brought me back to  Susan's gratitude post last year and this post this year.

Are we all too busy?  Not much activity this year, including me.  Last year, faithfully, I made the three things to be grateful for.  This year, I am grateful, but, not so consistent.

I am grateful for wonderful friends, near and far and those I have yet to meet.  I am grateful my basic needs are met.  I have a home, warm and cozy, great bedding, food for my tummy and a few coin in the bank.  I am grateful my family is healthy.  I grateful my mama is still alive, even though she is now in a nursing home, or as the health community or others call a long term care residence.  It is still the same.  An awful place some days.  I am grateful for life.  I am grateful to my God.  You be grateful to yours.  I am just thankful.

So... be thankful where ever you are in this world.  Be thankful.  Be loved.  Be warm.  Be safe.
